Ideal Café , Mangalore.

Just when I was thinking of having both sandwich and French fries but was short of time, this place offered me a ‘Machine Gun’. Yeah. You heard me right! Fresh green vegetables, crispy French fries and a layer of mayonnaise makes this a true ‘Machine gun’. A second eatery after Pabbas from the same management, this place is never not full. Located almost in the heart of the city, this place is one of a kind.
Scorching sun, humidity at its peak , sweating like we have ran a marathon, don’t we deserve an amazing ice cream ? This place is pure magic when it comes to ice creams. Be it the famous Gudbud or Tiramisu , or the sizzling carrot halwa with lulling vanilla ice-cream on it,  it offers the best ice creams in town at surprisingly trifling rates. After you have had this delicious piece of art , sitting in an air conditioned room, you have almost got into a trap you will never know.  Just when you will be thinking of getting away from this place , an enticing chunk of extremely hot sandwich with the aroma was delivered to a table right next to you. Voila ! You order the neer dosa and paneer ghee roast :D

A Getaway ride...

Oh all the horns, machines, the clicks, clings and the screams, stop this. A getaway ride was all that could relieve me. Bach suite on my playlist, canon 1100D in my bag and a bottle of water, I climbed my bicycle (not mine though, I borrowed it). All set, I hit the highway. On a bicycle after a long time, it feels like forever. After about 2 kms and a lot of burned fat, I stopped in front of a scenic countryside farm with sun setting on its back. I realized my knees and muscles need some greasing, it was getting hard to pedal the long slopes. To keep my baggage light as a feather, I had taken only my camera with a kit lens and ditched the pointless. I took my camera out and shot the beautiful landscapes, contended I continued my small ride sipping some Luke warm water. The scenic countryside on the left, sun setting in front of me, vehicles zooming past me in a hurry to reach the destination and the Bach suite put me into deep thoughts and put an instinctive smile on my face. After a tiring yet beautiful ride I reached my journey's end, exquisite it was! I clicked some more photos. If winter is here, can spring be far behind? Every up will be followed by a down and vice-versa in this cycle of life. As the famous Kannada phrase goes indeed my legs started to speak after I reached home.

The Punjabi Dhaba

After a long day of cultural activities , events and run around in college , your stomach will be craving for something filling. Alas! Our pockets were empty. Thats when we remembered our friend , our 'didi'.
You will be wondering What or who is didi ?It is in our all time favourite 'punjabi dhaba', we found this 'Didi' who makes us feel at home. With limited resources and great hunger, three great Hoggers embark on this journey. Just when we were about to think we will be stuck in rain before reaching the place, Rain god shows a little mercy on us. It waits a little longer before it can pour down like a imploding tank. It feels like rain prioritized you over others. Now when you reach this 10 x 10 extremely cheerlful place , a light hearted smile awaits you with warmest greetings ever.

Famous for its parathas made with pure ghee, Shahi paneer that melts in your mouth like cream, or the spicy hot mix veg that makes you want the rose flavoured gulab jamoon. Its drizzling outside.
Sitting in the verandah, listening to the bollywood melodies of 2000, sipping hot tea and gulping bread pakodas, shouting repeat as if it was a bar gives you that immense happiness we always crave for . Known for its authenticity, the only punjabi restaurant around here. This place is the best value for money, exotic punjabi food coupled with homely warmth is truely a blessing.

Address: Sampige road, opposite southern star.
